Not much to report in theatreland today but I'm sure everyone in the states is practically peeing themselves with excitement about the US release of the London Cast Recording of Billy Elliot: The Musical today. I haven't seen the show so I'm not one to judge, but I do know that my VHS copy of the movie is still covered in the shrinkwrap it came in when I got it for my birthday about 5 years ago. Expect to satisfy your Broadway Buzz cravings on Wednesdays with stagehand, some bits from our favorite B'way correspondent, C-McGee.

This week's bits? Apparently the Great White Way is receiving a major pop culture transfusion, as two American Idol alums get ready to grace the stage.

Runner up Diana DeGarmo gets set to star in the hit musical "Hairspray" playing the adorable Penny Lou Pingleton starting February 7th. Also, Josh Strickland (AI finalist) will be heading up the cast of Tarzan in the title role beginning on Broadway on March 24th. (That's a great idea, Broadway! How about another Disney spectacular!)

And of course, the major film-to-stage migrations continue as everyone's favorite Junior High date movie The Wedding Singer comes to Broadway on March 30th. It's currently making its debut in Seattle and getting great reviews. Starring Stephen Lynch, Laura Benanti, Felicia Finley and Amy Spanger.

And who doesn't love it when a famous person makes a classic show actually popular to the masses? The Pajama Game is making a revival (complete with the original Bob Fosse choreography, if you want to know) starring Harry Connick Jr. (Will and Grace) in his first major Broadway role. This will only be a small run from February 23rd until June 11th. Ah. Pity.

And last but not least, there's a rumor circulating that A Chorus Line is coming back to Broadway in 2007. Now that's something to celebrate! Although we can't promise that they won't cast Rosario Dawson as the new Morales...
